I have always been impressed by his skills as a writer and editor, and by his ability to work constructively and collaboratively with a wide range of people to locate the heart of every project, stay on track, and get the job done well.” Larry West, Go West Strategic Communications; former managing editor, Microsoft Corporate Communications _________________________________________________________________ “Rich is a superb writer who writes the highest-quality press releases, feature articles, op-eds and really any type of written document. He’s also a very strategic person who understands the media both from a journalist and a business perspective. Rich is also an extremely dedicated and hard worker and a wonderful team player who’s extremely easy to work with. I would hire him back in a second if I were in a position to do so.” Andrea Carlos, Carlos Communications; former Writing Services manager, Waggener Edstrom Worldwide _________________________________________________________________ “It is my privilege and pleasure to provide this letter of recommendation for Rich Clayton. Rich reported to me in my role as Executive Vice President at Waggener Edstrom Worldwide (WEW). Currently, I am Assistant Professor of Management in the School of Business at George Fox University.
I have known Rich for approximately ten years. Rich was in the Writing Services Group at Waggener Edstrom Worldwide. During his tenure, he was promoted several times, ultimately becoming the manager of the Writing Services Group.
At WEW, Rich was highly sought after for his writing skills by clients and by colleagues. He exhibited versatile, senior-level writing skills and worked on multiple types of projects including press materials, white papers, marketing collateral information, storytelling-based materials, technical documentation, and Web-based content. Rich consistently delivered writing projects that were of the highest quality. Clients, including Microsoft, consistently reported high levels of customer satisfaction with the projects he delivered. In addition, Rich developed strong client relationships, understanding that customer service was a critical component of delivering a high quality project. Because of the quality of his work and his attention to customer satisfaction, client business increased during his tenure.
As manager of the Writing Services Group, Rich was responsible for a global team of eight writers who were placed in WEW’s U.S., London, Hong Kong and Beijing offices. Rich was a great mentor and helped develop the writing skills of those who reported to him. As both a colleague and a manager, Rich was a team player and a team builder. Rich also had P&L responsibility as manager of the group. He developed a solid understanding of revenue and cost drivers and worked with his group to maintain profitability targets. He led the group’s expansion into the Asia market and was the hiring manager for the first writer in the Hong Kong office.
Rich has a strong intellect and seeks continued learning and growth. He has high integrity and is collaborative and easy to work with. Rich will be an asset to any organization he joins.”
Annette Nemetz, assistant professor of management, School of Business, George Fox University

“As a colleague of Richard Clayton on the Writing Services team at Waggener Edstrom for six years, I was consistently impressed with his tenacity and creativity in pursuing the “heart” of the story: those small yet essential details that bring a client’s messages to life. Rich was also an insightful editor who could always find ways to make my writing tighter, clearer and better organized. I recommend him highly.”
